Hope Rescue is a charity that co-ordinates the rescue of dogs who are about to be killed in Local Authority dog pounds after the statutory seven days, or in emergency situations.

They are completely self-funding.  Cotswold Carriage Driving has donated a carriage drive\lesson for a number of years to go on Hope Rescue on-line auction.

Here are the comments from Caroline who donated £110.00 for a carriage drive.

"Thank you for a fantastic day Stephanie. I thoroughly enjoyed myself, being a disabled person, it is very hard to get out and experience the world around you, not only because of mobility issues, but because of the crippling agoraphobia that

comes with being bed and house bound for many years.

I especially loved knowing that my taster session with you today went towards helping dogs at Hope Rescue Wales, thank you so much for donating the money spent on the experience, to them.

I would love to come back in future, Gigi was such a well mannered and beautiful horse and I felt proud to be sitting behind her on the carriage, knowing that so much

time and effort and thought had gone into making sure the tack was the kindest it could be for her to wear.

The scenery was beautiful and I really enjoyed hearing about the history of the Fosse and you pointing out various landmarks, and even the rare chance of seeing

a deer!

You made the session very hands on despite my condition and always asked if I

was okay which was very kind of you. I would definitely love to come back again and see you and your gorgeous horses".

Oak and Furrows take in around 3000 casualties a year.  It is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The charity relies on donations to survive and does not recieve any government funding.

Their "aim is to provide care for wild animals in need so that they can be returned to the wild fit and healthy for a second chance. To do this, we are always in need of help. If you'd like to get involved, take a look at our Getting involved and Ways to Donate pages."  Click on:

CLIENT'S COMMENTS

At the end of each lesson or experience, clients are invited to evaluate the instructor and horse(!) for their performance for the previous three hours, day or the length of the session.  Here are some of their written comments, reproduced with their permission:

"Very informative day, learnt a great deal.  Bobby was fantastic, gentle patient with a novice. Great day and would recommend and do again. Stephanie was also a very patient and great teacher" Carol P.

"So much information learnt in a small amount of time. Steph is extremely knowledgeable and very friendly. Very much enjoyed the day. 5* Love, love, love Gigi!"

"Very enjoyable morning. Stephanie has lots of patience and a good understanding of teaching a complete novice. No rush and ensured that I had knowledge of safety before even touching the horses. Lots of time spent learning how to hold the reins correctly and reasons why.  Gigi was perfect for the novice and beautifully behaved.  A lovely drive in both walk and trot. A great insight into driving.  Highly recomment. Would come again." Sarah W.

"Very knowleagable and patient teacher. Lovely interpersonal skills.  Lovely mare - couldn't have done it without her! Fantastic day out for both of us - enjoyed every minute! Thank you." Kay and Brian N. (Student and passenger)
